Rhythmic Dictation

Rhythmic Dictation is the skill of recognizing rhythms aurally. In music theory, this involves listening to a rhythmic excerpt for a specified number of times (usually 3 or 4) and then notating the rhythms that were played. It usually involves anywhere from 2 to 8 measure phrases.

Listen to the five audio files here and begin to notate the rhythms being played on a piece of staff paper. These exercises are for your practice only and will not be turned in. Try limiting hearing the audio to only four times.
