GRN - Practicing with the Coordinate System Lesson
Practicing with the Coordinate System
Remember that the coordinate plane is divided into 4 sections we call quadrants. The top right is quadrant 1 and has a positive x value and a positive y value. The top left is quadrant 2 and has a negative x value and a positive y value. The bottom left is quadrant 3 and has a negative x value and a negative y value. The bottom right is quadrant 4 and has a positive x value and a negative y value. You might also sometimes see the quadrant numbers written as Roman numerals. 1 is I, 2 is II, 3 is III, and 4 is IV using Roman numerals.
Remember, x comes before y in the alphabet, so you will always move right or left along the x-axis first.
Right or left first and then up or down!
