ACGC - Perimeter and Area (Lesson)
Perimeter and Area
The concept of finding the perimeter and area of polygons may be familiar to you by this point in your math career. However, you've likely been finding perimeter and area with the side lengths of the shapes given to you directly. In this lesson, we are going to discover how to find the perimeter and area of polygons when they are in the coordinate plane. When this is the case, you must first find the side lengths yourself! Check out the video below to learn how.
Area of a Triangle = 1/2 • base • height
Area of a Rectangle = base • height
Perimeter and Area of a Parallelogram
This video demonstrates how to find the area and the perimeter of parallelograms.
Area and Perimeter Practice
1. Find the area and the perimeter of shape A.
2. Find the area and the perimeter of shape B.
3. Find the area and the perimeter of shape C.
4. Find the area and the perimeter of shape D. Hint: Divide the parallelogram into triangles and rectangles.
