(MF) Musical Texture Lesson
Musical Texture Lesson
Texture describes the complexity of a musical composition. The word texture is used because adding different layers or elements to music creates a musical "tapestry." Texture can be simple or elaborate, and can be described with the following three terms most commonly used in music texture:
- Monophonic: A single line of melody.
- Homophonic: A single line of melody with chords or accompaniment.
- Polyphonic: A composition with many voices and harmonies.
