(MF) Key Lesson
Key Lesson
In music, the key of a piece usually refers to the tonic note and chord (main note and chord), which gives a subjective sense of arrival and rest. Other notes and chords in the piece create varying degrees of tension, resolved when the tonic note and/or chord returns. The key may be major or minor, and will contain a certain number of sharps and flats. These sharps and flats are usually placed in a key signature at the beginning of each line of music. Popular songs are almost always in a key.
