Changes in Diet Lesson

Fast Food Image

Reads:
Whether eating out or buying carry-out, Americans are consuming more and more of their calories from full-service and fast-food restaurants.

Are busy schedules to blame?

Whatever the reason, people in general consume high-calorie, less-healthful foods when eating out. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) reports that over one third of Americans are obese and nearly 17% of children age 2-19 are obese as well. Hectic and over-scheduled lifestyles, longer work hours, and single parent households are some of the factors at play when trying to plan healthy meals.

Some of the greatest diet changes come with age. We begin our life as tiny cells that obtain nutrients from our mothers in the womb. When we are born, we must obtain nutrients from outside sources. In the different stages of our lives, we need different calorie and nutrient requirements. See the presentation below to understand what is needed at different stages.
