Maintaining a Healthy Digestive System Lesson

There are steps that you can take to maintain a Healthy Digestive System. Take a look at the tips below.

--Eat a healthy diet--well balanced with at least 5 fruits/veggies a ay. Aim for 20-35 grams of fiber a day.

--Eat moderately, slowly, and regularly--chew food completely. Do not hurry through meals, It an take up to 20 minutes to signal your brain that you are full.

--Exercise regularly -- 5 days a week for 30 minutes. This helps to move things along in the digestive system.

--Drink plenty of water -- This helps to flush fiver and reduces bulk.

--Reduce/manage stress levels -- reduces indigestion and chances of gastric reflux.

--Quit smoking -- smoking increases the risk of certain types of gastric cancers, acid reflux, Crohn's disease, and peptic ulcers.
