Java and Greenfoot Installation Assignment

This course requires the download of an Internet Develop Environment (IDE) program.  These downloads are NOT compatible with Chromebooks and require a PC or Mac. Please follow the instructions in this assignment and submit the required documents to demonstrate that you have been able to successfully download the program.  Please contact your teacher with any questions.

Java and Greenfoot Installation

Today, I want everyone to install the most current Java SE Development Kit and Greenfoot on your computer.  If we do it now, it may avoid problems we face in this course later down the road.  Using the instructions and images provided below:

PLEASE NOTE:   THIS IS A GRADED ASSIGNMENT. 

When you have finished, please send me a screenshot of the results as well as a screenshot of your completed installation. 

On Windows

  1. Install the most current Java SE Development Kit (JDK):
    1. Go to the following site: Java SE Development Kit Downloads. Links to an external site.
    2. Select your platform.
    3. Click Download
    4. Accept the License agreement
    5. Then click on continue and follow the instructions to download and install.
  2. Install the Greenfoot IDE (Integrated Development Environment):
    1. Go to the following site: Greenfoot Downloads Links to an external site.
    2. Download the version that matches your platform.  Click the .msi file to start the installation and follow the instructions.

On Mac OS X
Java is already installed.

  1. Install the Greenfoot IDE (Integrated Development Environment):
    1. Go to the following site: Greenfoot Downloads Links to an external site.
    2. Download the version that matches your platform. Click the .msi file to start the installation and follow the instructions

 

On Linux

  1. Install the latest Java SE Development Kit (JDK) if it is not already installed on your system:
    1. Go to the following site: Java SE Development Kit Downloads. Links to an external site.
    2. Click to accept the license agreement and select your platform.  Then click on continue and follow the instructions to download and install. 
  2. Install the Greenfoot IDE (Integrated Development Environment):

    1. Download the version that matches your platform.  Click the .msi file to start the installation and follow the instructions.

STANDALONE VERSION

  1.  Go to the website http://www.greenfoot.org/download Links to an external site.
  2. Click on the standalone version to download to your external hard drive.
