(AIS) Creating a Prototype Lesson
Creating a Prototype
By now you should have an idea for your app, have decided on a color scheme, and learned about different layout features to enhance the User Interface.
In this lesson your will create a prototype of your design.
Paper Prototyping
Paper prototyping is sketching screenshots on paper as substitutes for digital representations. Paper prototyping is a very fast way to mock up your app and allows developers to think through the flow.
Things to keep in mind while paper prototyping:
- Hand-draw
- Keep prototypes sketchy. It should not be detailed and elaborate
- Draw big, bigger than actual size so you can see what is happening at all times
- Monochromatic - since we do not want to distract our user with superfluous details, nor do we want to sway them with pretty aesthetics
- Don't be afraid to start over. Always, always be ready to throw your prototype and design out
The images below show sketches of paper prototypes for mobile apps. Notice they are not detailed. They show the basic design and layout.
