(SDLC) Software Development Lesson

Software Development

A software developer is a person concerned with features of the software development process, including the research, design, programming, and testing of computer software.

According to the Job Outlook handbook, employment of software developers is projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations. The main reason for the rapid growth is a large increase in the demand for computer software.

Global Issues in Software Development

Outsourcing

Computer software is being designed in both developed and developing countries. Outsourcing is the practice of hiring an external organization to perform some business functions in a country other than the one where the products or services are actually developed or manufactured. This has created many jobs in developing countries but opponents point out that sending work overseas reduces their own domestic employment investment.

Offshoring

Offshoring is when a company moves itself to another country to perform business functions. The main reasons a company uses offshore software development services is the higher development cost of the local service providers.

Global Divide

A global digital divide is the gap in access to and use of technology between different countries.
