Communication Technology Etiquette

When new technology comes on the scene to help us communicate, it usually shows up first in an informal setting. When that technology becomes mainstream and in fact is used in a business setting, we may have to rethink some of the habits we have developed in the light of the new application. Think about texting. Informally, it is quite appropriate to use abbreviations and emoticons. But, this practice appears unprofessional in a business setting.
