Marketing literature will tell you that just as there is a marketing mix, there is also a promotional mix. In fact, promotion is one part of the marketing mix. The promotional mix consists of personal selling, advertising, sales promotion, direct marketing, and publicity. The purpose of promotion is threefold: to present information, to increase demand, and to differentiate a product.
