-BALANCE THE TIMENo one will deny that we live in a digital world. As citizens of that world, we have a responsibility to act in an honest, open, ethical manner both digitally and in person. In this unit, we will consider digital citizenship and the implications our actions have in the workplace. In a world where information is so readily available, we must make ethical use of that information as we do research. Our future professions will require us to work on teams, manage our time wisely, and organize our tasks to complete them efficiently. Technology provides tools to help us do all of these things, but technology is ever changing and keeping up with technology makes life-long learning necessary. Throughout this unit, we will look at how technology benefits, extends, and complements our professional and private lives, but also sometimes complicates them if we let it.

Module Minute

New York Times columnist David Carr posts: "We live in an age where there is a fire hose of information, and there is no hierarchy of what is important and what is not; where the truth is often fashioned through a variety of digital means. Are you your avatar? Who are you in social media? What face do you turn toward the world? How much does it have in common with who you actually are?" In this statement Mr. Carr is speaking to our responsibility as digital citizens to be who we really are both inside and outside of technology. Have you considered the responsibility of your digital citizenship?  Considering the fact that what we do online, especially, will likely remain there forever, giving careful thought to our digital presence seems wise.
