In the last unit, we examined the importance of ethics and professionalism in Law, Public Safety, Corrections and Security fields. In this unit, we are going to explore the purpose of Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Response Teams. In an emergency, what resources are available to avoid a crisis situation? Responders need to have critical skills in order to function effectively. Let's dive in and take a look at some of the roles and responsibilities required to operate successful emergency management teams.

  13. Corrosive - something that causes a process in which a solid, especially a metal, is eaten away and changed by a chemical action
  14. Noxious - harmful, poisonous, or very unpleasant
  15. Intuition - a natural ability or power that makes it possible to know something without any proof or evidence
  16. Triage - the process of deciding which patients should be treated first based on how sick or seriously injured they are
