Resumes Lesson

Resumes are often a required part of a job application. Many companies do not use applications and refer to your resume to determine if they'd like to interview you for a job. A resume is usually only a page. At your age filling up a page might be difficult. Don't worry, as other applicants will have the same problem.

Resumes have certain formats. For sections that you don't have anything to list under you may remove. In some sections such as work experience you can enter babysitting or yard work that you have done for neighbors. The employer is looking for evidence that you are a good worker. Volunteering, athletics and other headers can be created if you have extensive participation in those areas.

Normally resumes are formal. Use formal language - so you might need a thesaurus. But for some jobs, such as a creative position you might be able to add color and creativity to your resume. In general, you want your resume to look clean and organized.
