Career Opportunities and Requirements Module Overview
Why would being employed in a law and justice career field be interesting? In this unit, you will be introduced to various career pathways within law and justice. You will explore the components of obtaining employment within your field of interest, career field benefits, job duties and requirements.

- Character - one of the attributes or features that make up and distinguish an individual
- Short-term Goals - goals that you will achieve in the near future (e.g., today, tomorrow, next week, or in a month)
- Long-term Goals - goals that you will achieve over a long period of time (e.g., in a semester, in a year, in five years)
- Career - an occupation or profession, typically requiring special training, followed as one's lifework

- Corrections - In Criminal Justice, corrections is an umbrella term describing a variety of functions typically carried out by government agencies, and involving punishment, treatment, and supervision of persons who have been convicted of crimes
- Criminal Justice - the system of law enforcement, involving police, lawyers, courts, and corrections, used for all stages of criminal proceedings and punishment
- Stress mental, emotional, or physical strain or tension
- Internship any official or formal program to provide practical experience for beginners in an occupation or profession
- References a person referred to for testimonial regarding one's character or capabilities
- Termination to dismiss from a job
- Endorsements an act of giving one's public approval or support to someone or something
- Application a written or spoken request for employment
- Accommodations an adjustment made in a system to "accommodate" or make fair the same system for an individual based on a proven need or disability
- HazMat a material or substance that poses a danger to life, property, or the environment if improperly stored, shipped, or handled
