Day 5 Government: State Government: Executive

State Government: Executive

Hello again!

Did you know that each state of the United States also has its own 3 branches of government? It's true! The 3 branches of state government function very much like the 3 branches of the national government. They balance each other out so that no one branch has more power than the others. It's checks and balances all over again!

So let's aim our focus today on the first branch of the state government: the Executive Branch. It should sound familiar! Instead of the President being in charge of this branch, the Governor is in charge because we are talking about the state level of government.

You have a new digital poster that breaks up into the 3 branches of state government. Today, just read the part about the Executive Branch. Then click the picture below the poster for a video on what the Governor's power and responsibilities include. You will have dialogue cards as your interactive activity at the end!
