Day 1 Appalachian Mountains

Introduction

Today we begin learning about mountains.  We will discover two mountain ranges:

The Appalachian Mountains

The Rocky Mountains

 

We will start with some discovery questions and then move to find out more about each mountain through research.

Grab your Social Studies journal or a piece of paper.

Take a look at this picture from the Appalachian Mountain range. 

Click on the question marks, read the questions and jot down your thoughts.

You will use your own research to locate information about the Appalachian and Rocky Mountains. Today we will focus on researching the Appalachian Mountains.

  • Use the Document linked HERE Download linked HERE to guide your research.  It will make a copy of the document.  Up in the left corner, name the document: Your name's Compare the Ranges.

  • Be sure to use a safe search engine (check with your teacher!)

  • Type in each fact under the mountain you are researching.

  • You will use this document today and tomorrow and turn it in when you have finished researching both mountains.
