Introduction

Yesterday we learned that dirt and soil are not the same things.  Soil is made of living organisms and dirt is not.  Dirt is what we can get on our clothes and soil is what plants grow best in.  What are some tools that you could use to investigate soil with?  How can you describe its texture and color?  Today you will revisit the area that you found soil in yesterday and find tools that will help you investigate its physical attributes better.  Record your observations in drawings and words in your science journal.
