🔵 Day 2: Numbers 0-5

Day 2: Numbers 0 - 5

Introduction

We are going to continue our work with numbers from 0 to 5. Think about what you already know about numbers.  We can count them like this:  1, 2, 3, 4, 5.  If you count a set of objects, you can tell someone how many there are.  For example, if someone asks you how many fingers you have, on one hand, you do not have to count each finger because you know there are five.  This is called subitizing.

Let’s look at the charts in the slideshow again today.  While you are looking at the charts, think about some things that you can see around you that you don’t have to count, you just know how many there are.  Maybe there is a basket of apples on the table that you have counted before or pillows on your bed that you can see are two, and you do not have to count them.  Ask your Parent or Learning Coach to help you look for things. You already know how to subitize!

Today you will play a matching memory game with numerals and sets.  You will click on two cards to see if the numeral you click matches the set of objects on the dice you have clicked.  If you find the numeral 1, you should find the die with one dot.  If you find the numeral 2, you should find the die with two dots.  You can retry this game as many times as you would like.
