🔺 Day 8: Composing and Decomposing Numbers
Day 8: Composing and Decomposing Numbers
Introduction
Composing or putting together is the same as combining. When we compose a group of ten, we are talking about different ways to make a total of ten. Ten can be made by putting together 1 and 9, 2 and 8, 3 and 7, 4 and 6, and 5 and 5, as well as the opposites of those amounts. There is a pattern in the numbers that you may notice. The first number increased and the second number decreased. Now let's look at the opposite combinations that make ten and listen for the number pattern. 9 and 1, 8 and 2, 7 and 3, 6 and 4, 5 and 5. In this number pattern, the first number decreased and the second number increased.
