Day 8: Numbers 6-10

Introduction

Why is it important to know how many objects that we have? If someone asks you to give them a certain amount of something, you want to make sure that you are giving them the correct amount. What if you are the person asking for a certain amount of something? You would want to make sure that you were given the correct amount. If you asked for seven pieces of candy, and someone did not know how to count seven pieces and only gave you five, you would not be happy. Or, if you were asked to share ten chips with your brother or sister and did not know how many to count, you may give them more than 10 and that would make less for you. Counting objects correctly is important. Organize your counting system and make sure that you count each object, matching it with the numeral in order.

Introduction of Activity

Today you will practice counting sets that have 8 or 9 objects. You will see all of the pictures that have 8 objects or items with the numeral 8 and all the pictures that have 9 objects or items with the numeral 9. Watch this video to learn more and ask your learning coach or parent for help needed.
