Introduction

Hi grammarians! When we are writing, we want to make sure that we use correct capitalization. Capital letters show that something is important, like proper nouns or the start to a sentence. They help us read and write fluently!

This week, we will learn the capitalization rules using the M.I.N.T.S. strategy. Today, our focus is on months, days of the week, holidays, and the proper noun "I."

Visual
Capitalization with M.I.N.T.S. Copy the chart and provide examples of words that would need to be capitalized following the MINTS strategy. M stands for months, Days of the week, & Holidays. I stands for "i" stands alone.

In Your Notebook:  Copy the chart and provide examples of words that would need to be capitalized following the MINTS strategy. We will fill the rest of the chart out during the remainder of the week.

Introduction

Hi readers! This week, our focus is going to be on story elements. Elements are the parts of a story. They make up almost every story that you read!

Today, we will be learning about settings. Settings are the time, place, weather, and culture of a story. Settings are important because they have an influence on the characters and the plot as you read.
