Progressive Verbs

Introduction

Hello grammarians! Last week, we reviewed verbs that we have learned from previous grades. This week, we will be focusing on progressive verb tenses. Today, we will be learning about present progressive verb tenses.

Past progressive verbs have a present helping verb (like AM, IS, or ARE) and an "-ing" verb.

Visual

Present Progressive Verbs represent an ongoing action that is happening right now.
PRESENT

AM

I am running at recess.

IS

Sarah is talking

ARE

Phone.png WRITING

Introduction

Hi writers! Today, we will be focusing on researching. I like to write my research bits on sticky notes or index cards to better organize later.

When researching, try to stay on sites that end in .gov, .org, or .edu. These sites are going to give us the most accurate information on your topic.

Make sure to:

  • Write down every source title, author's name, and dates that it was made
  • Try to NOT copy word for word. Paraphrase as you read to avoid copying later.
  • No need for complete sentences now, get the information and move on.

Stop and Jot

In Your Notebook: Write down your notes. I like to use sticky notes or index cards to write down each individual note so it is really easy to organize later. Spend at least 20 minutes researching today. You will also research on Thursday as well!
