Day 8 Government: Levels of Government: Local (City)

Levels of Government: Local (City)

Hello!

You have learned the 3 branches of both the national and state governments. But did you know that there are also 3 levels of government? Think of levels that you see in a video game: each level you get to is more complex than the ones before it. The same thing happens with the levels of government.

We are going to start at the local level of government, which is usually operated in a city or town. So think of cities like Atlanta and Athens. They both have a city government, but they each have their own mayor, city council, court system, and local laws. Local governments make decisions for their local community instead of their entire state or country.

💡You have a digital poster where you can start with the section on the local government. Then there is a short video to watch that talks a little more about this level. Finally, end with the fill-in-the-blank activity to show what you know!
