Introduction

Yesterday we started our comic strip project to illustrate how conflict can lead to change. Today we will start creating scenes!

Grab your interactive notebook and review the situation you chose and the conclusion you wrote.  If you did not get a chance to finish, go ahead and complete your conclusion before you start on today's task.

Here are the different situations from the previous lesson for you to review.

Jenna had a friend over to her house for a playdate. While enjoying each other’s company and playing with Jenna’s toys, they also made quite a mess. Jenna asks her friend to help her clean up. Jenna’s friend replies with “Those aren’t my toys and it’s not my house. Why should I clean up?”

What should Jenna say?

At the park, the children are all climbing across the monkey bars. After many attempts, you have not yet mastered being able to go all the way across. The other children start teasing you for not being able to do it.

How should you respond to these other children?

Your big brother asks you to watch a scary movie with him. You love your brother and want to spend time with him, but the truth is that you are actually very afraid.

How can you explain this to him without losing a chance to share some time with him?

Alexis goes to the community park and is excited to see a group of friends there. As she walks up, they walk off and ignore her. She becomes upset because her friends aren’t talking to her and she doesn’t know why.

What should Alexis do?

Here is the video from the previous lesson for you to review.  This video has some important element of creating a comic strip.  It has not sound, so please carefully watch the video for details.

Today you will begin illustrating and drawing SCENES 1 and 2 for your comic.

1) Your comic should have at least 5 different scenes.

2) Characters in comics should have speech bubbles and show emotion.

3) Each piece of the comic are small snips of the important details of the situation.
