Electrical Circuits

If you take a continuous source of DC electricity, such as a battery, and connect conducting wires from the positive and negative poles of the battery to an electrical device such as a light bulb, you have formed an electric circuit.

In summary, for electricity to be able to flow there has to be a closed circuit for the electrons to be able to flow through. In this lesson, you will be exploring how electrons flow in two types of circuits (series and parallel circuits). You will be required to be able to read and draw diagrams of circuits. In order to do this, you should be familiar with the basic symbols used to represent the various components of a circuit. These symbols are seen in the table below:
