(IFSCJ) Introduction to Forensic Science and Criminal Justice Module Wrap Up

Module Wrap Up

Summary of Module Content

The Forensic Scientists of today are able to analyze evidence and decode amazing amounts of data from tiny samples as never before. It is important to remember though, that these modern scientists stand on the shoulders of giants who worked very hard to bring more objectivity and scientific accountability to criminal justice proceedings. While some of their methods would now be considered outdated, their hard work and dedication endures. Crime labs today offer many services that would have been impossible less than a century ago.  Services such as DNA analysis and advanced toxicology screening have become so common that it is easy to forget how new the technology really is!  Forensic Science is a specialty science with many sub-specialties.  Because of this, it is required that Forensic Scientists work together as a team to not only process the evidence from a crime scene, but to piece together the often puzzling details of crimes and crime scenes.
