The Six Kingdoms Lesson
The six kingdom system of classification divides all living things into the following groups (note that the Domain Eukarya is split into four different Kingdoms):
- Kingdom Eubacteria (same as Domain Bacteria)
- Kingdom Archaebacteria (same as Domain Archaea)
- Kingdom Protista
- Kingdom Fungi
- Kingdom Plantae
- Kingdom Animalia
The six Kingdoms are grouped based on a number of features, including:
- cell type: prokaryote
or eukaryote
- cell complexity: unicellular
or multicellular
- how they obtain energy: heterotroph (consumes food)
or autotroph
(makes their own food)
- reproduction: asexual
