The Six Kingdoms Lesson

The six kingdom system of classification divides all living things into the following groups (note that the Domain Eukarya is split into four different Kingdoms):

  1. Kingdom Eubacteria (same as Domain Bacteria)
  2. Kingdom Archaebacteria (same as Domain Archaea)
  3. Kingdom Protista
  4. Kingdom Fungi
  5. Kingdom Plantae
  6. Kingdom Animalia

The six Kingdoms are grouped based on a number of features, including:

  1. cell type: prokaryoteTitle: text annotation indicator or eukaryote
  2. cell complexity: unicellular or multicellular
  3. how they obtain energy: heterotroph (consumes food) or autotroph (makes their own food)
  4. reproduction: asexualsexual
