Thematic Unit: Influences - Novel Wrap-Up: Lesson 

By this point, students should be finishing the novel, The Giver. Take some time to finish reading the remaining chapters and answer the final set of questions. In the pages that follow, students will complete assignments tied to the novel, as well as the sub units in the two themes discussed throughout the course.

Think about how these two themes - memories & influences - ran continuously through the novel. Which characters were examples of one or both of these themes?

  • Who dealt with the most, or least, influences?
  • How was the topic of memories present in the stories you read?
  • How did these themes affect the characters in the novel?
