Lesson Topic 3: Literary Analysis
Literary analysis is the study, evaluation, and interpretation of literature.
When writing a literary analysis, you will focus on specific attributes of the text. When discussing these attributes, you want to make sure that you are making a specific arguable point (thesis) about these attributes.
You will defend this point with reasons and evidence drawn from the text.
How do you support a thesis statement? Use examples from the text! Direct quotations, summaries of scenes, paraphrases, etc.
View the following presentation that will provide you with more information about how to write an effective literary analysis essay.
