In this module, we will read the novel The Outsiders and discover plot, setting, mood, types of stereotypes, and types of conflicts. Please ensure that you have located a copy of the novel The Outsiders. You will need a copy of the book in order to complete this module.

Essential Questions

  1. How is the theme of individuality vs. conformity reflected in the novel The Outsiders?
  2. What are the various stereotypes within the novel?
  3. How do the setting and mood in the novel contribute to the plot of The Outsiders?
  4. What are the different examples of conflict found within the book?
