Lesson Topic 3: Narrative Writing

Narrative writing enables writers to tell a story of an experience or an event while holding the reader's interest. Narrative writing usually includes the following:

  • Written in first or third person
  • Includes characters, setting, and plot
  • May include some dialogue
  • Events are organized in chronological order (although flashbacks may be used)

Narrative writing tells a story. A personal narrative tells the true story of something that happened to you.

View the following presentation, which will provide you with more information regarding narrative writing.
