(BBHT) Lesson Topic 2: Vocabulary
Lesson Topic 2: Vocabulary
It is important to learn new vocabulary in context as you are reading a novel. Whenever you come across a word you do not know, stop reading and jot down the word. Then, look up the definition and copy it down. This takes a few extra minutes, but it will greatly help to improve your vocabulary and reading comprehension.
It is a good idea to start a vocabulary journal now in your educational career. By the time you are in high school and are ready to take standardized tests such as the SAT, you will be surprised how much a vocabulary journal will help to improve your scores!
A vocabulary review activity is below. Study it carefully to prepare for upcoming quizzes and tests.
