Lesson Topic 3: Metaphors

A metaphor is a comparison of two unlike things without using the words like or as. Example:

  • San Francisco is an enchanting jewel box.

We are comparing San Francisco to a jewel box without using the words like or as.

Examples:

Examples of metaphors:
Her eyes are homes of silent prayer.
My office is a pig sty.
Juliet is the sun.
