(TBASF) Lesson Topic 2: Similes

Lesson Topic 2: Similes

A simile is a figure of speech/language that compares two unlike things using the words like or as.

Examples:

  • At night the bridge is like a yellow snake.
  • At night the bridge is as bright as a yellow snake.
  • "My love's like a red, red rose."
  • "He was as cold as ice."

Using similes in poetry will allow readers to get a better picture of what is trying to be said.

Select the question marks in the sentences below to determine if the sentence contains a simile.
