(FTU) Thematic Unit: Friendship Introduction
Thematic Unit: Friendship
Introduction
Can you name a few important people in your life? What does friendship really mean? Having a relationship with another human being helps us learn and grow in many different ways. Your best friends may be in your family, in your school, or in your community.
In Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson, Jess Aarons does not have any friends anywhere. His family does not encourage him, and the kids at school do not spend time with him. Until he meets Leslie, he does not know what friendship really means. He does not understand that sticking by someone despite everything proves a worthy friend.
In this unit, we will examine the theme of friendship. The following two modules, "Designs of Drama" and "Grammar Guru" will have the theme of "Friendship" incorporated into the unit. Be prepared to discuss this theme and complete assignments that correlate to friendship.
By the end of this unit, you should have read Chapters 7-10 in Bridge to Terabithia, and you will complete the reading comprehension questions for Chapters 7-9. The questions will be due at the end of this entire module.
