Thematic Unit: Life, Love, and Learning
Introduction
As we grow up, we learn something new each day. Time passes, and through each joy and challenge that we face, our thoughts, ideas, and opinions change. We begin to understand what remains important in life, and we do not take people for granted.
In The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963, each person in the Watson family changes because they learn something they did not know about life. Moving from Michigan to Alabama in the 1960s creates many obstacles the Watsons never encountered. The experiences they face together change them each individually and as a family. They grow in life, love, and learning.
In this unit, we will examine the theme of life, love, and learning. The following two modules (Grammar and Nonfiction) will have the theme of life, love, and learning incorporated into the unit. Be prepared to discuss this theme and complete assignments that correlate to life, love, and learning.
