Lesson Topic 2: Understanding the Novel
Understanding the Novel
Each novel has a purpose that hides between the lines of a text. This purpose, or meaning, is called the theme. To understand the novel's theme, readers must closely examine, analyze, and understand the author's words.
Along with the theme, several other literary terms exist that help analyzes the text. The definitions you will need to learn are listed below. Also, you will be choosing a topic to research and write about at the end of this semester. Begin brainstorming ideas to complete your discussion posting about your future writing topic.
