Vocabulary

Remember when we created a vocabulary flipbook in an earlier module?  We will continue to add to our book with new terminology related to computational thinking and problem solving.

Below is a set of vocabulary terms relating to these topics. Take notes on these terms as you will be seeing them often!

  • Sequence - A series of actions completed in a specific order
  • Algorithm - A set of steps or instructions to follow in order to accomplish a goal and/or complete a task
  • Binary - A numeric system that only uses two digits - 0 and 1
  • Decomposition - To break a complex problem into smaller more manageable parts
  • Abstraction - An attempt to reduce complexity by removing unnecessary information
  • Automation - The use of technology to accomplish a task with as little human interaction as possible
  • Boolean - A subset of algebra used for creating true/false statements
  • Integer - A whole number (not a fraction) that can be positive, negative or zero
