OSI - Trace the Data Lesson

Trace the Data

The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model is essential in how communication takes place over networks. The OSI model then divides network communication into seven layers: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application. At each layer, protocols perform services unique to the layer, also interacting with protocols in other layers. In this lesson you will dig deeper into the OSI Model, understanding the interconnection between the layers.

Each layer proves itself important to how we communicate within networks. Take a look at the video Memorize the Seven Layers, breaking down the layers a little more. Pay particular attention to how data transmits through each layer.
