LPH: Lesson - Grammar - Supine Review
Supine Review
The supine is a specialized verbal noun with just two forms, based on the 4th Principal Part:
- Accusative: ending in -um (visum)
- Dative/Ablative: ending in -u (visu)
Accusative supines are generally used to express purpose with verbs of motion (he came to see: visum venit), while the dative/ablative supine is mostly used in expressions as a dative of purpose (amazing to see: mirabile visu).
