PS - Problem Solving Strategies for Software Lesson
Problem Solving Strategies for Software
Problem solving techniques are used to tackle software issues. This learning topic will introduce you to troubleshooting tips used to address a few issues. You will also gain an understanding of how software engineers develop software and work through problems associated with software applications.
Software
Software engineers create programs that provide computers with instructions for performing tasks. They are also responsible for creating documentation, screen prototypes, reports, indicating software requirements, addressing future development issues and the data needed to make programs operate correctly. Access the learning object below to view information on the software development cycle.
Software Compatibility
The computer purchased by your family or school included a preinstalled operating system. The operating system includes web browser and email software. Trial software may also be installed.
You have learned in this module that application software allows users to accomplish real world tasks such as creating a letter, designing a flyer, or constructing a spreadsheet. Software applications open files in its native file format along with several additional file formats. To determine the file formats available, click on the Save as type option when you name your file. The image below provides file format options for OpenOffice Writer.
- Trial Software - Software that can be used free a few months but must be purchased after the trial period ends.
If you are using a software program that is not commonly used by individuals, you should communicate with the individual receiving the file to determine if the software is installed on their computer is compatible.
