To help you prepare for the Tree of Life growth, you will need to make sure your seed gets the correct about of sunlight. Did you know that different species of plant can require different about of sunlight?

Badge Description

Students will learn similarities and differences between mitosis and meiosis.  Students will learn the difference between asexual and sexual reproduction, as well as advantages/disadvantages of each one.

  • Mitosis Virtual Lab

Once earning a 70% or above the students must complete one of the following assignment:

  • Sexual vs Asexual Discussion
  • Sexual vs Sexual Quiz

Once earning a 70% or above the students have to complete:

  • Cancer Discussion

Once earning a 70% or above the students have will complete the final assessment:

  • Graphic Organizer Activity
  • Cell Reproduction Review

Once earning a 70% or above the students have will complete the final assessment:

  • Cell Reproduction Test

You will earn the Sunlight Badge once you have successfully earned a 70% for all of the above requirements.

*If you are unhappy with your score on the assignment you chose, then you are allowed to go back and complete the alternative choice as long as it is before the due date."

Assignment

Criteria

Mitosis Toothpick Lab

Students will develop and use models to explain the role of cellular reproduction with creating models of this process and analyzing the chromosomes during each phase of cellular reproduction.

Mitosis and Cancer Virtual Lab

Students will analyze and explain the role of cellular reproduction in maintaining genetic continuity as well as investigate the effects of when cellular reproduction doesn't go as expected in a virtual simulation of analyzing cells.

Asexual vs Sexual Discussion

Students will participate in a discussion thread with classmates to develop and explain the role of cellar production (both in sexual and asexually reproduction) and how organisms can maintain genetic continuity.

Asexual vs Sexual Quiz

Students will answer multiple choice questions to assess their knowledge on  the role of cellar production (both in sexual and asexually reproduction) and how organisms can maintain genetic continuity.

Cancer Discussion

Students will participate in a discussion thread with classmates and construct an argument based on evidence to support the claim that inheritable genetic variations may result from mutations caused by environmental factors.

Cell Reproduction Review Quiz

Students will answer multiple choice questions to assess their knowledge over the two standards covered in the module to help them prepare for the end of the module test.

Graphic Organizer Activity

Students create comparison graphic organizers to assess their knowledge over the two standards covered in the module to help them prepare for the end of the module test.

Cell Reproduction Test

Students will be assessed with multiple choice style questions over the role of cellular reproduction in maintaining genetic continuity and be able to support the claim that inheritable genetic variations may result from mutations or new genetic combinations through meiosis.
