Cell & Cell Transport.png

To help you prepare for the Tree of Life growth, you will need to plant the seed of the tree.  A seed must be planted in the right depth of soil, amount of sunlight, and just enough water for it to sprout. After completion of this module, you will earn your seed to plant.

Badge Description

Students will learn about the structure of the cell membrane and how it relates to the transport of molecules into and out of the cell.  Students will learn the functions of the cell organelles, as well as the different types of cell transport.

In order to earn the Seed Badge for this module you must choose to complete the following:

To begin this unit, the student will complete one of the following:

  • Stem Cell Discussion
  • Stem Cell Worksheet

Once earning a 70% or above the students must complete the following assignment:

  • Cell Analogy

Once earning a 70% or above the students have the choice between two more assignments:

  • Gummy Bear Lab
  • Transport Virtual Lab

Once earning a 70% or above the students have the choice between two more assignments:

  • Cell and Cell Transport Study Guide
  • Cell and Cell Transport Review Quiz

Once earning a 70% or above the students have will complete one of the final assessments:

  • Cell and Cell Transport Test
  • Cell and Cell Transport Project

You will earn the Seed Badge once you have successfully earned a 70% for all of the above requirements.

*If you are unhappy with your score on the assignment you chose, then you are allowed to go back and complete the alternative choice as long as it is before the due date."

Assignment

Criteria

Cell Analogy Project

Students will construct an analogy for the cell and cell organelles. They will demonstrate the knowledge of organelle functions based on analogies they create in this project.

Stem Cell Research Discussion

Students will investigate stem cell research and defend a position on how stem cells are beneficial in maintaining homeostasis by interacting with other cells.

Stem Cell Worksheet

Students will investigate stem cell research by reading an article, and completing guided research by filling out short answer questions on a worksheet.

Cell and Cell Transport Review Quiz

Students will be assessed over the explanation of how cell structures an organelles interact as a system and investigations to determine the role of cellular transport to maintain homeostasis by a multiple choice style questions to prepare them for the module final assessment.

Cell and Cell Transport Study Guide

Students will be assessed over the explanation of how cell structures an organelles interact as a system and investigations to determine the role of cellular transport to maintain homeostasis by answering short answer questions to prepare them for the module final assessment.

Gummy Bear Lab

Students will investigate and record observations to determine the role of cellular transport of different osmotic solutions in this hands on lab.

Transport Virtual Lab

Students will investigate and record observations to determine the role of cellular transport of different osmotic solutions in this virtual lab simulation.

Cell and Cell Transport Test

Students will be assessed over the explanation of how cell structures an organelles interact as a system and investigations to determine the role of cellular transport to maintain homeostasis by answering multiple choice style questions.

Cell Tour Project

Students will be assessed by creating a project with the requirements to explain how cell structures of organelles interact as a system and investigate the role of cellular transport to maintain homeostasis.
