IAPS - Module Overview
Introduction to AP Statistics
Introduction
Although Probability and Statistics is one of the primary branches of mathematics you may not know exactly what you have gotten yourself into. After viewing a few videos, you will see that Statistics is part of everyone's everyday lives. For example, business managers analyze data to make informed decisions, pharmaceutical companies do rigorous product testing on new drugs prior to FDA approval, insurance companies continually analyze data to establish premiums, and colleges use data to make admissions decisions. You may already be aware of some other areas that use statistics like sports, politics, and weather. AP Statistics is a rigorous course that will prepare you for the AP Stat Exam administered in May. The College Board standards will guide us through the course. When you leave this course you may conclude that AP Statistics is the best math course ever.
