Transformations of Nonlinear Data Presentation

Not all data can be modeled by a linear equation.   If the data is plotted and appears "curved" then we must explore other types of models.   In AP Statistics we focus on two particular "transformations" to achieve linearity in order to determine which model is appropriate.   The two graphs that we focus on are Exponential and Power models.   Of course, you cannot tell simply by looking at the graph exactly which type you have. There are procedures in place to decide...mathematical procedures.

To begin learning about nonlinear data models please view the lesson below on Transforming Nonlinear Data. This is simply an introduction.   You will learn more, much more,  from viewing the lesson and completing the book assignment.   Once again the calculator will come to the rescue for the complex calculations.
