MS: Lesson - Listening for Infinitives

Image: A painting showing the capture of the Sabine women Listening for Infinitives

While we focus a lot of attention of reading Latin, it is important to take some time to listen occasionally. After listening, use what you heard to check your understanding of Latin infinitives and indirect statements. The passage you will be listening to concerns an event from the mythological history surrounding the foundation of Rome: the abduction of the Sabine women. Nicolas Poussin's painting, pictured on the right, from c. 1637-38 is called L'Enlèvement des Sabines. How did the early Romans trick their neighbors and afterwards, how did they avoid war?
