Capstone Project - Project Showcase Planning Proposal

A Capstone Project is an Inquiry-Based Student Interest, multi-step Project-Based Learning, or Real-World Solution Project. This course will have one Capstone project, with several checkpoints.

Hopefully, you have spent a good amount of time researching your passion project. You should have 8 to 10 sources to help you create a nuanced picture of how your topics work within the broader context of the ancient world. Now you need to “put it all together.”

Instructions

First, you will need to decide what the project’s format will be: podcast, video, essay, etc. What best suits the information you’ve gathered? What format plays to your strengths, or even connects to your passion? Think of this as an "elevator pitch" for your project - what do you want to do with the information you've gathered?

As you are making this choice, be aware that you will need to include a visual component in your final work - whether images or video. Now would be a good time to gather a few school-appropriate images related to your author and their work. Be sure to note the source for any images you use on your bibliography page!

Next, you will need to create a rough draft or outline (depending on the format) of your project. You will want it to be detailed yet lively, and as close to “finished” as you can so the feedback you receive will help you create an even better final project.

You will submit an outline/rough draft/mock-up/storyboard/lesson plans. This should go beyond an initial sketch or bullet points. You should have at least 6 parts (either paragraphs or segments or storyboards). For each part, you should include 3+ sentences of what information will be included, what evidence will be cited, and how your evidence will support that paragraph/segment.

Submission Review

• Continue using your previous Word document. You should already have:

• • Your topic
  • A paragraph explaining why you are interested in this topic
  • A few specific areas of your topic that you might want to investigate more deeply
  • A focus
  • Research for your focus in the ancient Roman world
  • Research for your focus in the modern world (your culture)
  • Bibliography page

• NEW CONTENT. Add:
  • One paragraph “pitch” explaining the final format & why you chose it
  • For each of the 6 parts of the outline/draft/storyboard, include 3+ sentences of information with relevant research
• Submit the Word document
  • Submission should be either .docx or .pdf
