Introduction 

Li Meimei asks Xiaosongpingzi to have dinner in her home this weekend. Xiaosong doesn't know where Li Meimei lives, so she asks "Nǐ jiā zhù nǎ er 你家住哪儿 ?" which means "Where do you live?". Then, to find out whether it is far from her house by saying "nà lǐ lí wǒ jiā yuǎn ma?那里离我家远吗?". Also in the Chinese culture, family is most importance in one's life, so people always like to talk about their families. If you want to ask about one's family members, you may begin with the question: "Nǐ jiā yǒu jǐ kǒu rén?你家有几口人?".

Essential Questions

When you ask someone's address, you can say "Nǐ zhù zài nǎ er 你住在哪儿?", and the answer is " Wǒ zhù zài ……我住在……"。To ask and tell the distance between two places, you may use the pattern"……lí ……duō yuǎn ……离……多远?" and"……lí ……shí fēn zhōng chē chéng ……离……十分钟车程。". When you talk about the family member, the question and answer could be "Nǐ jiā yǒu jǐ kǒu rén你家有几口人?" Wǒ jiā yǒu sì kǒu rén。 bà ba 、mā ma 、gē ge hé wǒ我家有四口人。爸爸、妈妈、哥哥和我".To ask one's opinion, " Nǐ kàn zěn me yàng你看怎么样?" is often used, and the answer could be "Wǒ jué de bú cuò.我觉得不错。". The proper response to "thanks" is "bú kè qi 不客气" or "不用谢".
